Tent is a children’s theatre performance, designed around a week long residency model, that explores place, connection and identity.
Tent began as a conversation between Alyson Evans and Rachel Small in early 2014. As both performers and workshop facilitators with extensive experience facilitating theatre programs with communities both in Australia and overseas, Rachel and Alyson were interested in exploring a framework that valued equally process and product. The Tent project aims to establish a model that engages community members in the artistic process of a show, opening up creative dialogue with young people, and working towards a collaborative and high quality final performance.
Tent has undergone three professional developments:
October 2015 – 2 week residency – Build Up – Brown’s Mart Theatre (NT)
May 2016 – 2 week residency – Month in the Country – Hothouse Theatre (VIC)
October 2016 – 1 month residency – Artists in residence program – Marpha Foundation (Nepal)
